I have heard from a couple different friends that the book "Baby Bargains" is a great investment. It gives tons of tips for purchasing all types of baby items (because trust me, there are a LOT of options). It tells you what is worth spending more money on and what is not.
Last week, I was purchasing other items on Amazon.com and was trying to think of something small to add to my cart to hit the $25 mark to receive free shipping on my purchase. This is probably how they get you because I know I'm spending more money than I would have. Anyway, when I realized that I could get Baby Bargains for $4 (used) I was stoked.
At this point, I think I am so savvy for getting such a great deal. I go out to dinner with a couple of my friends, show them my new purchase, and am telling them how great a deal I got. Then one of my friends is like, "This looks different than my book. This is the 5th edition? I think when I was pregnant I must have gotten the 4th or something." We kind of dropped the subject because neither of us knew better. However, as I got home I started thinking - what is the newest edition? Well, as it happens the newest edition is the 9th. Apparently I got such a great deal because this book was published in 2003! As most people know baby stuff gets updated ALL the time. I quickly realized I am not savvy. I was going to have to buy the newer edition and just eat the $4. So in case you are as clueless as I am, these books get updated every two years. You can distinguish the different editions by the color and style of the cover... but here is the newest edition:
I guess live and learn :)
